Culross Festival Music & Arts Weekend – Events 2011
Culross Abbey House Estate from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th June.
This unique Festival in an unique venue announces its unique programme. It has managed to book Ruby Turner for her only Scottish date.
Said to have “one of the greatest voices the UK has ever produced. Last year, Ruby has been touring the world with Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Band.
Described as truly the genuine article and blessed with a voice that has been likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, Ruby continues to win the hearts and minds of an ever growing and diverse fan base.”

And for those who like their music more home- based – we cannot say traditional – they have Skerryvore.
Described as “blazing bagpipes, fiddle and accordions, electrically fused with funky rhythms and soul-gripping songs, Skerryvore are an award winning band of six young men, form the island of Tiree, creating a trade-rock fusion for the 21st Century.”
People have thought of them as the new Runrig.
And for those who like their music a little more classical – Don Giovanni. Opera Project bring their production, sung in English, of this blistering Mozart opera to the grounds of Abbey House becoming the only open air opera staged in Scotland. With a live orchestra, Culross will be alive with the sound of Mozart.
Lord Bruce says, “ I am delighted to welcome the Culross Festival back here to the grounds of Abbey House. With such a varied programme, in such a unique setting, it should be something special. We also intend a different form of staging this year which should enhance the audience experience.”
With some of Britain’s coolest musicians and some of its most shining stars, the Festival aims to change Culross into cool gloss!
